This is not a review of this album but just an interesting story concerning Iggy's music.
I worked in the music industry in the 60's, 70's & 80's. Of course I was into hard rock and had seen Iggy perform about 15 times...the first time with the Stooges in 1968 opening for Led Zeppelin at the old World's Fair location in Queens, NY.
Anyway, when I was working for a TV station in 1977 in New Orleans, I was shopping for a new sound system for my home. The album I had with me to check out the equipment was "Raw Power". I went to this upscale audio store who thought that they were very hip. The guy that "helped " me out was this over the hill folkie that looked down his nose at me. Probably because I looked like a rocker with long hair and was covered in leather. Well, when I put "Raw Power" on the box and CRANKED it, I thought he was gonna s***...or have a heart attack. I made him listen to a few tracks and told him that's what people listen to today.
He was beside himself...it was hilarious. But, I did buy his equipment, even though he didn't know how to use it. He was SO glad to get me out of his store. I couldn't wait to get home and play "The Idiot" and "Lust For Life". Saw Iggy perform again about 10 more times. Someone should buy him a shirt...but he probably would't wear it anyway.
